DLP mobilized a 30 person production crew in Vegas to go in the Octagon and behind the scenes to produce UFC Unrestricted, a documentary film event for FUEL TV.
This inside-out, all-access look at the UFC through a variety of lenses focused on UFC 148. From the owners, to the operations, to the TV trucks, to the fighters, to the building of the Octagon – we went deep inside the world of the UFC and revealed the many characters and personalities who work tirelessly to put on the spectacle the world sees.
UFC Unrestricted gives both hardcore fans and newcomers to the sport a look far beyond what they’ve seen, to reveal the inner-workings of the organization, the drama behind fight night, and the characters who make it all come together. An insider’s perspective is provided of what the fighters and operations team do in the hours and even minutes before a huge pay-per-view event.
In addition to MMA stars Anderson Silva, Tito Ortiz, Forrest Griffin, and Chael Sonnen, DLP had story crews with UFC President Dana White, President of Event Operations Craig Borsari, and the unforgettable Burt Watson, who serves as fighter liaison.
With so many moving parts between the fighters and the operations side DLP had to strategically approach how to be in all the right places at the right times. Distributing resources into five Story and three Speciality crews allowed us maximize our coverage. Story crews shot on Varicams while Specialty crews shot on ARRI Alexa and DSLR.
From the initial Octagon load in, through the weigh-in, and the final bell it was an awesome production with a great cast of characters and a tremendous group to work with from the UFC.
